An empty chapel and a black cat

The largest cemetery off Upper Bristol Road is the famous Locksbrook, which I have reserved for a future post. But a much smaller and just as gorgeous one is St. Michael’s Cemetery, located quite literally in the shadow of Locksbrook. Just a few steps closer to town and at the bottom of the hill sits this small cemetery with a couple of empty, gothic-style chapels surrounded by a residential neighborhood.

One Saturday afternoon I made the 40 min walk from my flat to visit the grounds, and came across two rather ominous surprises. First, tip-toeing between a couple of graves I found a bone sitting in the grass (was it human? I’m not sure…), and second, as I took my final lap around between heading home, a black cat crossed my path. Good thing I’m not superstitious…
